The Triumphant College soccer team has made remarkable milestones in the Windhoek Social Soccer League (WSSL), currently holding 4th place on the league table after 12 competitive matches.
With 6 wins, 4 draws, and only 2 losses, the team has scored an impressive 38 goals and conceded just 19, earning a goal difference of +19 and a total of 22 points. Although the team is not yet formally recognized as the official Triumphant Soccer Team, it has become a symbol of resilience and unity within the college community.
According to founding players, the team was primarily formed by staff members; however, the team has made efforts to include students where possible, despite age restrictions imposed by the league. “We tried by all means to include a few students in the staff team,” a founding player said. “But due to the league’s age policies, we couldn’t accommodate all of them.”
President of Student Representative Council (SRC), Morres Samuel, confirmed in a recent interview that the team has faced many challenges during the early stages which included lack of players, soccer balls and proper kits, yet the team remained committed. “We used to rent kits from other teams — white and maroon sets — and struggled with basic equipment like balls and boots,” said Samuel. “But we believed in the team, and eventually, management believed in us too.”
After raising their concerns with college management, support began to f low. Today, the team proudly owns two full sets of kits and continues to represent Triumphant College with pride. “Their commitment reflects the spirit of our institution,” said Samuel. “We may not have a stadium yet, but we have heart — and that’s what makes this team special.”
Triumphant College was established in 2006 as part of Namibia’s Vision 2030 goals, aiming to empower youth through education, science, and technology. The soccer team, though informal, embodies that same mission — creating platforms for growth, leadership, and community engagement. As the WSSL season continues, the Triumphant College staff team isn’t just chasing points — they’re building a legacy. One match at a time, they’re proving that Triumphant isn’t just a name. It’s a way of life
