The University of Namibia Student Representative Council (SRC) is set to host the Freshmen Welcome Bash on 7 February 2026, an event aimed at officially welcoming first-year students into university life while celebrating the start of the academic year.
The bash forms part of UNAM SRC’s efforts to create a smooth and engaging transition for new students by providing a platform where first years can socialize, connect and experience campus culture beyond the lecture halls. Events of this nature play a key role in fostering a sense of belonging and community among students at the start of their university journey.
Entertainment will be a central highlight of the evening, with a strong lineup of local talent scheduled to take the stage. Performers and DJs include Solange, Spuzza, Mega, Oteya, DJ Dreas and among others who are expected to join the programme. The lineup reflects UNAM SRC’s commitment to supporting local creatives while delivering an engaging experience for students.
Beyond the music and performances, the Freshmen Welcome Bash serves as a symbolic introduction to student leadership, campus engagement and the vibrant social life at UNAM. By bringing students together in an informal and celebratory setting, the SRC aims to encourage interaction, unity and active participation in campus life.
As first-year students prepare for the start of lectures, the Freshmen Welcome Bash stands as one of the first major social events of the year, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their academic and personal development.
