Namibia’s top universities are turning campuses into cultural crossroads. These annual festivals honour identity, diversity, and the shared future of Namibia’s youth.
The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) hosted its 2025 Annual Cultural Festival, which took place from 03 to 05 September at the university’s Lower Campus in Windhoek under the theme “A decade of Eminence: Celebrating Education, Science and Technology for Development.”
This year’s theme centred on the 10-year anniversary of the NUST and its transformation into a powerhouse of innovation, research, and academic excellence.
“This milestone is not just about academic achievement—it’s a celebration of our heritage, our innovation, and our collective journey. A decade of eminence means honouring where we come from, while boldly shaping where we’re going.” Said Mr. Twapewa Nakashona, from NUST’s Department of Student Services. Featuring both student-led performances and community exhibitors, the event gives local artisans, dancers, and culinary creators the opportunity to share their craft with a wider audience.
Over the years, the festival has grown into a vibrant cultural melting pot, reflecting not only Namibia’s traditions but also international diversity, as students from across the continent and beyond participate in the celebrations. The 2025 edition was expected to be no different, with organisers promising an unforgettable three days of cultural exchange, creativity, and community spirit.
