River Higher Institute launches with new expanded programmes

Windhoek – What has been a stream of vocational programmes, Monitronics Success College,  has surged into a new height as River Higher Institute of Technology, turning a major breakthrough in its transformation from a vocational training centre to a formal institute of higher education.

The transformation represents growth, resilience and restless quench of knowledge and skills that respond to the demand in the Namibian job market.


The institution’s marketing and corporate communication officer, Tusnelde Naftal, the institution's previous academic scope could only offer vocational training programmes. 


However, revolution has now made academic programmes to offer a variety of qualifications. 


“Just as rivers lead to new and fertile grounds, River Higher Institute of Technology stands as a place where students and professionals alike can advance beyond limitation and rise to new heights in education,” Naftal remarked.


The institution's current scope offers undergraduate degrees and masters programmes from five faculties, including business, health, engineering and Technical and Vocational Education and Training qualifications with plans to introduce postgraduate diplomas, a mission that will meet the involving industry.


Naftal said, even though transformation was crucial, it was met with different reactions from supportive to critics. 

River Higher Institute faced challenges in maintaining the brad recognition during transition. 


“Change is never easy,  many staff and students embraced the new identity, recognising it as a symbol of growth and transformation. We however remain hopeful that the new identity will continue to reach a wider audience, solidifying our position as an impactful institute,” she said.
