As students prepare to enter the professional world, many carry expectations about what their first job or internship will look like. However, the transition from campus life to the workplace often reveals a very different reality, one that requires adaptability, patience, and growth.

According to student perspectives, many young people enter their first job expecting a structured and supportive environment.

There is often a belief that tasks will be clearly explained, with step-by-step guidance provided along the way.

Students also tend to expect that their ideas will be quickly recognised and that career growth will happen rapidly.

For many, the anticipation is that the experience will be smooth, enjoyable, and immediately rewarding.

The reality of the workplace can be quite different. In many cases, instructions are not always clearly outlined, requiring individuals to take initiative and figure things out independently.

The pace of work can be fast and, at times, overwhelming, especially for those who are still adjusting to a professional setting.

Additionally, recognition and feedback are not always immediate. Instead, students often need to consistently prove themselves over time before their efforts are acknowledged.

Adjusting to this environment comes with its own set of challenges.
